or was he in as a nightwatchman...

a few times before, sehwag's wicket in the 2nd has been gifted while chasing a small total.
wanted to win by 10 wkts here.
curious had rd/gg got out, who next?
if it's the farewell angle, then they're reacquainting Dravid with his earlier roles - next game he'll keep for a bit, then crawl, captain, declaring the innings when sachin's closing in on a double.
hahaha...sachin's declaration angle is really funny...
more than protecting sehwag i think they wanted to protect nz bowlers maybe on the request of vettori? ;-)
To add a few runs and get the averge moving up again.
that's another angle sb...
SMD says he wants to win the series for ST and RD. Sounds he is planning a farewell gift. Otherwise, I would love to think that moments before walking out, Sehwag had a nature's call to respond to and hence Dravid came out. Alternatuvely, New Zealand requested they would prefer bangging head against 'The Wall' than be slaughtered by the 'Butcher of Najafgarh'.

exactly som...this is more likely... :)
the first thought that came in ma mind was, sehwag hadn't finished answering nature's call, not on reliance phone hopefully..
farewell tour, possible! i hope not though!
am no numerologist, but i think it was the year 2008, that played havoc with RD!
I guess MSD thought there was no point beating the dead horse. Vettori had already raised the white flag.
That had me a bit bemused as well. Maybe that's for RD to get more "practice" on NZ conditions.
Wiser folks at home will agree with SB.
As for the farewell tour, Sachin seems to be bent on returning with a bent back! :)
MSD saying its a gift to Rahul and Sachin is rich. Without them, he might not win a match.
