you can do nothing about it...

dilshan stood no chance... when bhajji appeals... nothing else matters...
umpires have no option but to raise the finger... in accordance...

ohh come on...it wasn't just plain appealing. He bowled superbly in the morning session...was the best on display.
Awesome appeal though. I get his technique now. He was setting the umpire up for a few overs by appealing for the same kind of dismissal and eventually laid a killer appeal for which the umpire had no answer...other than the raised finger, of course.

so where do we differ rohit...? :)

Come on..I was kidding! It was a bad decision, nothing else! My point stands that Bhajji is the best we have. You could see the difference in class in both the innings of this test match. Ojha is never going to run through a side and Bhajji can. In fact a supposedly out of form Bhajji is comfortably out bowling Ojha.

And will you take a look at Dhoni's appeal, he's in good voice too. His Master's Voice

Rohit, Bhajji will make his own side run from him

just one wicket for bhajji today thanks to the appeal... against ojha's two and could have had kulasekra first ball lbw again but for appeal... on fourth day of spinning wicket...

and we are talking about the best spinner we have... :)

When was the last time our frontline spinner ran through a side?

PS: Picking up tailenders doesn't count as running through the side.

"In fact a supposedly out of form Bhajji is comfortably out bowling Ojha"

Do you mean in the speed of deliveries? Because Bhajji certainly was quicker than Ojha in every ball he bowled today...
that is the only department where I thought he 'outbowled' Ojha. Yeah, bhajji outdid Ojha in pace.

mahek... ironically it was mishra who on debut took five oz wickets seven in total... who is dropped after one bad match... both from tests as well as odis...

ppl still make us remember 2001 forgetting conveniently that there is gap of almost 9 years now... while players like laxman who made epic 280 in that very series... turning the whole series upside down... odd still find a sword hanging on their neck...

maybe he should also buy a hummer and buy a property with dhoni as partner even if he has to pay full amount from his pocket... :)

Cricinfo's piece pretty much summed up Harbhajan's bowling effort. Unfortunately it was also very miserly in terms of praising Ojha, instead focusing on how he didn't bowl well against left-handers. I can't think of too many bowlers who have had the better of Sangakkara, and Ojha is just playing his second test. He'd have had atleast 3 victims if not more had he learnt how to appeal.

BTW, has anyone noticed a pattern in Sangakkara's performance? He seems to score a hundred in the last test of the series. Going back to December 2006 he's done it 8 times out of 11.

ohh come on! this is bhajji slaughter going on here! Am I the only one who thinks he's good! he has almost 350 wickets..only to be ranted at for a few below par performances. He ran through the side in the first innings. He won us the third test in NZ and the final of that Compaq cup.
I'm just glad Dhoni isn't as trigger happy as you guys.
And really put your prejudices aside and tell me whether Ojha looks good enough to be a regular player..I mean really! He went for 3.65 per over today..and not just due to the attacking fields..he bowled rank bad hops! Am I the only one who thinks Ojha is just waiting to be found out? Bhajji's spells in the first two sessions were far superior. I don't see why you guys don't see that! I'm not a Bhajji fan or anything but I realize he's the best proven spinner we have!

@Mahek..
I was comparing it to his 192 but didn't know about it being such a large number! And I know getting Sangakkara is tough but Ojha was struggling with his line in general..sliding down leg way too often..that's what Sambit Bal was probably referring to..

Did you just say Harbhajan won us the third test in New Zealand? I was AT that game and I swear I saw it end in a draw. I also didn't know Harbhajan scored a blistering hundred in the final of the Compaq Cup. Now I know why I can't see his all-round ability.

Ajit Agarkar has close to 300 wickets in ODIs, which means he's a proven performer in that format. Does that mean we should go back to him?

Talking about the first innings, Harbhajan got the first, fourth, fifth and eighth wickets. Good on him for ending a strong opening partnership, but what happened after that? It was Ojha who broke the Dilshan-Sangakkara partnership and Sreesanth took out Mahela with a well-directed bouncer. Samaraweera wasn't set when Harbhajan got him (Off a good ball alright) while Dilshan wasn't out. He then proceeded to bowl down the leg side and offer easy runs to Prasanna and Mathews, before Ojha beat the wicket-keeper in flight.

I don't know what people mean when they say "He doesn't look good enough to be a regular player". Cricket is about scoring runs and taking wickets. If you want to see players who "look good enough" go to the movies. Ojha has outbowled Harbhajan in just about every game they've played together - statistically as well as aesthetically. He bowls at an optimum pace and changes it subtly and isn't afraid to flight the ball. Not to mention he gets good drift and dip.

Meant the first test, not the third! :-)The 6/63...
So let me get this straight...Ojha is better than Bhajji, Mishra is better than Bhajji. Probably Ashwin, Chawla, Nanda, Jakati, Abdulla are all better than Bhajji.
All of you here can see it oh so clearly but the silly, stupid Dhoni can't. That's why he prefers him to Ojha and the equally obtuse selection committee can't see something so obvious either!
Or is this a conspiracy? Tendulkar is complicit in this conspiracy by wanting to keep Bhajji in the side, despite his obvious rottenness.
Dhoni obviously wants a third rate spinner who has no skill whatsoever in the side. That makes sense. I see it all now. The umpires are a part of this as well, aren't they?

I see the truth now. The batsman whack Ojha around for 184 runs in 46 overs on purpose to make him look bad! In reality he's a bowling genius. and they play out bhajji at less than 3 an over so that the illusion of Bhajji continues....
I wasn't aware it was on such a large scale. Wouldn't have doubted it otherwise.....
Are you sure our lives are not in danger in spite of being in possession of such a huge state secret?

The captain and selectors are entitled to their opinion, doesn't make them right, especially in a country like India where names and reputations are given more importance than performances.

There is nothing wrong in backing a player but you shouldn't do it at the cost of those who are performing well. One bad test for Mishra, especially when every other bowler struggled, shouldn't have led to his exclusion. I wouldn't be surprised if Ojha was treated the same way. After all, he was dropped inspite of bowling well in the T20 World Cup.

Sure the Lankans have scored quicker off Ojha, but he's also picked up wickets in return. Like I pointed out earlier, he'd have had atleast three this innings if he'd learnt how to appeal. It sucks when umpires don't give plumb LBW decisions, sucks even more when they give the ones Dilshan was at the receiving of this game.
