The HIGH POINT of the IPL auction

by Homer

Plenty has been said about the IPL auction held in Mumbai, Keiron Pollard's bid, Shane Bond's come back, a whole bunch of extremely miffed Pakistanis. And so on and so forth.

For mine, the highpoint of the auction happened before it started. And it was in the choice of venue for the said auction.

In terms of symbolism, and in terms of making an emphatic statement, the IPL organizers could not top this. The auction itself pales in significance.

I'm sure they had that in mind just like last year when they had it at the Taj. Oh wait, it was in Goa.

Mahek,

Okay, so what you are saying is that the choice of venues was random.. Fair enough.

Cheers,

Mahek,
wasn't the Taj being rebuilt and was open to public recently? Maybe they didn't get an opportunity last year so did this year.

and the non-interest of Pakistani players at this venue..so it all evens out at the end of the day!

The Trident reopened in December 2008. I'm not sure when The Taj did the same.

Very classy with that jibe on Pakistani cricketers.
