Dilshan’s triple

by Gaurav Sethi

Sure Dilshan’s been scoring runs, tons, but a triple? Sure the top order was in exile, but a triple?

Turns out it was Dilshan’s three wickets cricinfo reported. You will never see that ‘triple’ headline on cricinfo. At best it would’ve lasted a few minutes. By the time you was refreshed it was four wickets.

Dilshan scalped four, and Bangladesh looked like skinheads.

Earlier in the piece, the Delhi Daredevils good fortune shone on Dilshan – he scored more runs in this test (162 & 143*) than he has in many lifetimes.

Btw Dilshan scores plenty vs. Zim and Bangladesh. You’d think he was the land of milk and honey.

There was a time I would confuse Dilshan for Arnold. That problem was solved. Arnold ran away to the ICL.

Earlier for the Daredevils, Dilshan threatened to get away too. Didn’t score many, but he’s a good fielder. Is that why the Devils bought him – or is there a clandestine game with the Dacca Warriors?

Dilshan was named after one of his longer innings, possibly vs. Bangla - Tillakaratne Mudiyanselage Dilshan.

What’s your take - Does Dilshan give it all he got?

He has to score and perform consistently against good teams...Out of his 7 test hundreds 4 have come against minnows Bangladesh(3) and Zimbabwe(1)...I am not saying that he is not a good player...he needs to be consistent...

perhaps he saves his best against minnows.......

whats the use ?

That's where he has to improve..there is really no use of scoring against minnows...

scoring against minnows is like double edge sward...if you score you don't get credit and if you don't score they say look he cant even score against minnows...

so i will take the score and look fwd to carry on the confidence...

He's got test 100s against England and Australia and got 1 against India last year as well, hence the ability is there.. its the consistency thats been lacking.. though his career had spanned a decade i dont think he has been a regular the way he has in recent times.. maybe he's just turning the corner.. thought i did think he was younger than 32!

He is one of those good players who is always a thorn for certain teams... especially India.

Temperament problems.

Srini, Dilshan flatters. Lanka's Yuvraj.

sam, dilshan should swing by and play in the ranji semis sometime. Minnow mincers and flattrack bullies need a forum, jaffer for Pres.

SP, don't be so kind to Dilshan.

Q,Yah, even when he retires we'll be like, hey, he just started playing the other day. Cricket life is too short. Unless you are Hick, Gooch, WG or SRT.

scorpi, his temperament wasn't too hot during the IPL. Even when on song he'd throw it away - and when he did close one game, that was surprising. Reckon Dilshan's just not himself in the big league. I say, Dambullah Cricket Academey for him.

NC u keep missing out the Pakis... Imran Khan made his debut 9 years before me parents even thought about me and he retired just when i was abt to hit the teens...

And Miandad.. i was still 5 years away from my parents thoughts when he made hit debut and he retired when i was well past 16...

And Wasim Akram.. i was all of 4 when he bowled his 1st int'l delivery.. he retired when i was 23..
