Balaji Returns

It seems Munaf Patel has suffered another groan... oops groin injury. This means our very own smiling assassin Lakshmipathy Balaji makes a comeback. So what does LB bring to the game that we lose with MP's departure. Well for starters he is actually enthusiastic on the field. He is also enthusiastic with the bat. In fact he is an enthusiastic cricketer in general, something Munaf Patel seems to lack unless he's been smashed for a couple of fours and then gets his man off an inside edge. From what I remember, and I don't know if he's changed, Balaji will probably be a good 5-10k slower than Munaf, but these things don't matter much in Sri Lanka... just ask Vaas and Kulasekara. Whether Dhoni decides to play Balaji will be another thing though... its going to be hard to replace Praveen Kumar after his match figures read 8.2-1-22-1... But if India win the 3rd or 4th ODI, which they should, we should see Balaji get a game.

Which is fantastic for Indian cricket, the last time we had such depth in fast-medium-slow-swing bowling was when we had the wide array of choices ranging from Agarkar, David Johnson, Harvinder Singh, Debashish Mohanty, Srinath, Prasad and the allround talent of Ganguly... Isn't it awesome that the 90s are finally gone...

SP, wasn't it just recently that u were complaining about the lack of depth in fast bowling resources?

Enthu he sure has, even when he isn't enthusiastic. Good one on the Munaf-Bala.

Enthusiastic is right ... he was way too enthusiastic with his groin too ... resulting in frequent injuries to said region!
