A Keeper of Books.

Book Fairs are always a tightly bound affair. The one in Colombo, in 2006, was no exception. A big event, and well attended. The crowds swell around early evening, or late afternoon; depends on when you have lunch. One morning, when it was quite empty, a couple walked into my stall. As the husband started to browse through my collection, he wanted to know more about the books.

We got chatting, and it turned out to be a pleasant conversation. He then started to buy some books; and he bought and bought – almost a lac it turned out by the time he was done. Impressed with his choice, i asked him what he did : “I’m a lawyer”, he said. “My name is Gautam”, i said, as we shook hands when he was about to leave; “I’m Kumara” he said.

He then left. A priest who was in the stall too, told me as Kumara left : “that was Kumara Sangakkara”. “Who is Kumara Sangakkara?”, i was left wondering…

Interesting account.

but was sanga practicing law at the book fair - why didn't he introduce himself a cricketer?
Guess he didn't want to offend a bigtime cricket backer like yrself.
