Wasup Badrinath?

by Gaurav Sethi

Badri, now that nobody cares, you’ve started scoring again. Out of your team’s 199, you made 100*. The other day you scored a double.

Does it count? Not really. Is that why you scored these runs?

Did they ever want you in the team? How many chances did you get? Did you ever stand a chance? How much longer before you hit the microphone again?

Keep scoring, if nothing else, at your age, you can make your test debut in Australia.

Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Yuvraj --- Thats the current test line up and I'm pretty certain a lot of people would like to see Pujara and Badrinath replace two people in that order. For some strange reason, the national selectors will probably still chose Karthik or Murali Vijay ahead of both if someone is injured.
I actually feel slightly sorry for Dravid and Yuvraj since even if they half-succeed in NZ, they're going to take a lot of flak. But Dravid at least cannot afford to insist that he's still got no plans to retire if he has another really poor series.

Let's just hope that he catches a break before hitting microphone & then bottle ... tale of BadriD!
Just shows you how much precocious but prodigious talent exists in the sub-continent waiting to catch that elusive break ... a problem of plenty!

A, methinks Pujara's gotta grt shot, said so last week here -

And I very much doubt whether Pujara or Badri have any popular support.

Keeping Dravid in the mix for longer, strengthens SRT's cause. That senior angle.
