long live 'follow on'...

by straight point

i mean, look at the end scenario...the team that scored 620...got the first innings lead of 300+ but still did all the running...

the bowlers looked jaded after a herculean effort of bowling 270 odd overs non stop...it's not rocket science that they will be praying india doesn't win the toss and elect to bat in the next test...

though the seeds were sown in kolkata 2001...

i think this draw is the last nail in "follow on's" coffin...

what say...?

to bowl again after putting down 94 overs can be a strain - but the kiwis had two spinners, that's what swung it.

usually 50-60 overs max, or else bat again.

still say, the follow on was on, who could have factored in Gambhir's innings.

though vettori can't be faulted for follow on decision...i think future captains will think twice or thrice may be and then will decide to bat again...

the pitches in general are getting slow which is already making life of bowler difficult and to top that follow on...?

gosh...(if you are a bowler...)

what makes you think vettori didn't think twice

also absence of wily 150 kmph + quicks, genuine spinners, guys who take the pitch outta the equation, makes it tough for most teams to knock another ten in the 2nd innings.

on contrary vettori didn't even thoght once... :)

it was the implosion of indian batting in first innings (and indian captain in both innings) that made this match from being boring fest otherwise the pitch was as flat as we have seen in recent times...
