Bored Reaction: Have you lost it?

by Gaurav Sethi

First your team loses it. Then you lose it. Not your virginity but your sanity. Right, that's you in the corner...losing your religion. Over at Well Pitched, a few comments led to this post and series -

Husha - BTW, "it makes us break the TV screen" resonates with me especially...in 2003 when Pakistan lost against some team in the World Cup, I don't remember (probably India), my dad broke a couple of vases in his anger!

Q - I know people who have actually thrown a glass, an ashtray, and an apple at the TV screen!

What kind of people do you know? What have you done? When you really lost it? Tell me son, this is confession time. I won't tell anyone. Only you're gonna tell the whole world.

let me also add that all those 3 times, the TV screen remained intact.

The glass broke and someone cleaned it up.

The ashtray did not break but cigg butts and ash destroyed the carpet, which we all has to clean..

The apple was washed and eaten!

Incredible. Let me guess, did India cause the flutter?

Usually it's inventive abuse aimed at many generations of the players;
know of a few heart attacks tho. The victims were defeated too.

The glass was during this Pak-Ind final in Dhaka.. Ind chased 315 and won.

The ashtray was at the 1999 WC final..

The apple at the World T20 in 2007..

2 out of 3 times, it was India..

Since good girls don't swear, I usually keep that stuff in my head...and yes there is some "inventive abuse" there as well :)

Except when SA drew with Aus in THAT WC match...then I was almost in tears...gosh, im all embarrassed now! :P

Q, not without reason I see. Beats me why 2007 was only an apple - at least a coconut.

Megha, was that because Lance lost it or SAF? I found that funny, still do, tho the folks were devastated

because SA lost(drew?)..

and funny is not a word i would be able to use to describe that draw ..ever...though I can use it to describe my reaction :)

Haha great topic..

Well a positive reaction=
during the whole of this year's T20, we would feed the neighbourhood alley cats 3 times a day, donate money to various charities, make chai for the elders, and in general be intolerable do-gooders...in the hope of generating enough sawaab/good karma, that God would grant our duas and let Pakistan WIN! :)

When Pak loses...it isn't pretty.

Once my brother broke the bed. It wasn't his fault, he just kind of jumped on it really hard in his frustration..and it broke..

My friend has been known to take it out on the flowers in her lawn after a bad game, while we discuss the low points..

Husha, the topic started all thanks to you, with yr comment at WP.

And that's a lotta work for a win, don't think even the pak players put in so much.

Oh brother! to that.

Btw could you pls mail us at bcciwrites@gmail.com
