Sri Lanka is going to beat themselves.*

by Gaurav Sethi

That score of 90 by Pakistan is deceptive: it has lulled Sri Lanka into victory mode. Worse, it could have lulled them into an innings' victory mode - so, at no point are they thinking of batting again. Even though the conservatives in the box, like Waqar Younis can't fathom Younis' attacking fields, I can.

A target of even 200 should be enough. And I'm not gonna bull about 'if they bowl and field well.' That's in the box talk. This is out of it.

Right now I'm thinking Australia vs. Sri Lanka March, 2004: In each one of the tests, Lanka gained a first innings' lead and lost.

*this is not part of the Pakistan Sri Lanka Master Debate between Q and Damith. The stakes are much higher there. Here, I'm just shooting, and not for Gold.

More than four hours later, Waqar and his mate in the box get talking about the threats of target 200.
