time's knocking your door, raina...

by straight point

the absence of yuvraj from the middle-order is unfortunate but an interesting development in a way...we will see what our next gen is all about...

the closest india can get to replace yuvraj is raina who i believe has a better overall game than yuvraj... for one he plays spinners better... is far more agile in the field... and can bowl when needed with his annoying off spinners...

so where is the problem one may ask..

the problem is in self belief... does he think the same way... does he realise his true potential...?

time has given him a god sent opportunity in the form of yuvraj's injury... if he shows alertness in mind he can really rise in the ranks at a stage when all eyes will be on him with hope and anticipation... this is not just for the pakistan match later today... its about the entire champions trophy and beyond...

the performance of raina and other youngsters will decide whether this team will be called a second string side or not... whether he has the hunger to take india to the next level or he's just content to be one of the fringe players who shine when all stars in the sky are aligned... whether he takes the absence of yuvraj as a challenge or burden.. or are we knocking at the wrong door...

so bored friends... in few hours from now one we are going to be the part of the transition that may happen for the betterment of indian cricket... stay tuned to the interesting times ahead...

Completely agree with you!
Hopefully they drop yusuf pathan today and get Kohli in (if he is available) or Nayar (looks like a better batsman than Pathan).Yusuf is more or less like India's Imran Nazir and for the part time spinners he bowls we have raina who can do the same with nayar we will have some difference with medium pace in our 5th bowler quota.

and amit mishra should play today!

don't know what to say today. we are with neither viru nor yuvi. Magic of MS could be a decisive factor for today's match. I have no hope from anyone else then Dhoni. Sorry folks but has been f**.. when needed.

thanks aditya

yes india must sort out players who have the game when india need them... and pathan is certainly not that player...

i too am advocating for mishra's inclusion for quite some time now... coz its better to play spinner than a wayword pacer just for the heck of it... but does dhoni too sees it this way is the question...

I am not in favour spinners. I have seen in Bangladesh when Indian Spinners were hit sixes and fours by Younis and Yousuf. Sorry but this was something I have to include.

welcome something...

as they say something is better than nothing... :)

yes dhoni can do it but the real performance will come from unknown quarters coz you don't expect too much from them and opposition too can't plan for them...

i have also seen pacers getting hit for six sixes in an over HKJ... :)

i am specific to Younis and Yousuf with inclusive of tag of Pakistan. The match was final of tri series where one new spinner was there.

as the match is at centurion hopefully they are in their right minds and pick Mishra and nehra,RP singh(their records in SA are great)

Please drop this Ishant Sharma! he needs to know that he can be dropped from the team! take anyone but him even praveen kumar!

HKJ...

tho the past serves as reference but one can't always take decisions fearing it...

we have seen how off color our pacers have been... so it one has to gamble then why not on a spinner who have taken five-for against aussies on debut and even in warm up game went about below three runs per over when others were chasing leather...?

if i were selector ishant would have been dropped from the on west indies tour itself... but thats me...

the commercial angle and sponsors are having lots of say in the selection unfortunately and so ishant must play... irrespective of his form...

@hkj

that waas piyush chawla you are talking about..
mishra is an experienced player and has proved himself

@Adi

Indeed it was chawla... with two matches over his debut.

The way they were hitting only one area, I have intuition, that they have a plan for today to attack on spinners.

hkj...

any spinner worth it salt see the opportunity when batsmen are in mood to attack him coz this gives him chance to get him out...

and if chawala coudn't stem the flow then it does not mean that the doors are closed for all spinners...?

@hkj

yes indedd they will we have to outsmart them in the plan!
i remember they were constantly hitting chawla in that area between midwicket and long on!

anyhow any spinner is better than Ishant!

if they are bent upon playing a fast bowler give praveen kumar a chance esp if we bowl second he will be a handful under the lights its a gamble worth taking!
