This is Younis Khan speaking

by Gaurav Sethi

Younis Khan has inspired a generation of cricketers, mainly Indian and Pakitsani. Not so much with his humour as with comments like, “I’m only player unfit, but playing!” - he said with a beatific smile, and you knew at that moment, if you’re unfit, that’s the only way to go.

Of course, Younis was unfit for the India game too, but played anyway. It was an emotional moment. The subcontinent is an emotional place, a sentimental wave followed and Pak won the game.

If only Sachin had been unfit, and still played, who knows what would have been. It is an open secret, that for many years now, Sachin has been unfit, yet played for India. No wonder he’s won them so many games.

I'm sure there was a funny hidden in that post somewhere, but I have no heart to laugh..or giggle..or live. Pakistan lost. :'(

I'm on my way to having biryani at a Pakistani place here. Gonna wear my India jersey a little more proudly than I wore it when I went there last week. I might be Indian but they do serve the best biryani in San Diego :)

Typical sadistic Indian.
*rolls eyes*

Younis inspired nothing but contempt today. Nothing worse than a captain who can't bat, bowl or catch.

Contempt? No he's too likeable.

Pity? Grief? Sympathy? Yes.
(And for Indians--joy)

Husha, not every Indian hates Pakistan, many who visit this site would have been rooting for a Pakistani victory, not just for the match but for the tournament, this Indian included. Save the hate for youtube.

NC, did you see that dropped catch. I was so pissed off by that. Pak would have won had he taken that. Now we have a mismatch for the finals. :(

Hm try facing the ones who live in my neighbourhood..haha

Lol, I said it only because I got heat from the waiters there last time. But whaddya know, they made a fuss about the whole thing and we ended up going to another place.

BTW it would be nice if you didn't try to psychoanalyse people, especially ones you don't know. Not everyone feels delicate in indulging some light banter.

Husha, beat the feeling.

Mahek, wore a shirt over the india jersey, did you?

Gaurav Sethi said...

Gorogoro, give him this much, he hasn't lost his nonsense of humour yet. The day he loses that, be the end of Younis.

Ach, think Husha was joking. But those who think otherwise should search India Pakistan or Cricket beyond boundaries here. Articles by Pakistanis and Indians on cricket and more.

Saw it coming, so I stayed away from the dropped catch. A sitter?

And yeah, only 2 Pakis in my f team, 3 Kiwis, what was I thinking?

Hell no, NC. I wore my Indian colours the day we lost to them so why wouldn't I do it this time? If anything it led to some good banter between us and the folks who run the place. Good fun!

Mahek, can well imagine the exchanges, esp after this one between a Paki cabbie and bored member Bhaskar in Dubai

Mahek said...

Bit off topic, but why do people keep saying Pakis? Even Pakistanis seem to use that word. I wonder if they know it's a racist word.

Yeah duh I was kidding, but sarcastic jokes don't come off well online, I guess..you can't see ppl's expressions or hear the tone..so it sounds like I was hating on u all..
