drop jatman from one dayers...

by straight point

if he fails to mend his ways

there is a famous saying...

they won't respect you if you don't respect yourself...

this adage fits to our one and only jatman...

so you can see that even after being the only triple centurion from india... the force in our top order that the world really fears ... the only man in our team who can single handedly change the course of five day games in one session... is left wanting for the status he rightly deserves in indian cricket...

the reasons are not hard to find... he does not fully respect the talent he possesses... is happy to look like a reckless pinch hitter at the crease... and his constant blabbering whenever a mike is placed in front of his mouth that he has often left his captain and team in an embarrassing situation...

"bank balance..." he once famously replied to the question when someone asked him what is the difference between him and sachin... i hope by now jatman will have understood what the actual difference is...

he gets bored very easily and lets his mind wander when a little focus on the job at hand will do no harm to him and his stature... currently he seems like a possessed soul who is hellbent on scoring 200 runs in 50 overs or before... so the strike rate of 100 or above does not excite him anymore... he must go for 150-200 strike rate... and in doing so he often forgets that though the individual scores do add to the team tally but if in doing so you are not able to do justice to the demands of prevailing circumstances or the talent you have, then what purpose does it solve...?

it has been said that he is providing good starts to team india with his blazing 20s 30s 40s... then i wonder... is this what we should expect from a rare gem like sehwag...?

i am sure if uthappas or even yousuf pathans are given license and some assurance at the top of the order to go for the kill... similar results can be achieved if not better... at least we will know what to expect from them...

why waste a talent like sehwag then...?

drop him from the odi side and let him concentrate on tests...which he himself says is the format he prefers... let him create mayhem in tests where he seems to have found his mojo as this will keep the hunger and thought of being challenged going in his otherwise wandering mind....

before you jump on my head and say that sehwag plays this way only, then i would say that you have probably not seen his innings in one dayers... when he goes to square leg after almost every delivery he faces to calm himself down... breathing long and hard to keep the focus going... consciously looking to spend time in the middle... but then the challenge in front of him was to reestablish his spot in the team after the injury layoff or returning to the team after being dropped... and once that challenge vanishes he returns to his reckless mode as if it does not matter to him anymore...

so whoever thinks that jatman can bat in one mode only does not respect his talent enough... but then neither does jatman...

Jat hai yeh... Tough talk wont work...(he is a Jat, tough talk kaam nahi karega)...

I say give him a bat and tell him that its a test match...give him glasses which make everyone else appear wearing white...

Don't worry, he won't look at himself. He never does.

He hasn't scored a hundred in the last 10 tests either so those loose shots have crept into his game in the longer version too. Definitely needs some tough love but not the axe at the moment.

After last year's IPL, Jatman is perceived as a star player. Before this, he was a power, but the perception was way off.

Look at the breaks he's got in the last year, all he had before was Mayur shitty suitings, and that too was a long, long time ago. Just an hour back I saw him in some social ad for a polio camp.

MS and whoever calls the shots know of Jatman's pulling power - at the Kotla it is only Viru, not Gauti or Nehra. In a way, he is Delhi. But yeah, he should be India?

Dropping will not happen, but a wakeup call will (I think it already has come, and it will be over a chat with Gauti, and Viru would've addressed himself)- and like with all things Jatman, he will strike without a warning.

A 100 tomorrow. Latest by the seventh ODI.

Sehwag gives a lot of good advice and rarely or never follows them.

His advice to Gauti on him always been a 80's man was gold. Except Sehwag has settled for being all 20.

A big one is long overdue.
