Spot on SP. I can see the purple patch on Chika's cheek!
Patches on both cheeks! One by a right-arm leggie and the other by a slow left armer.
Why Chika? If Cheeka had been nepotistic, he would have chosen Ashwin. This is obviously the cut for the Central Zone selector who would have pushed Piyush's selection.
Basically, in the next selection meeting, the CZ selector will not have much say because his quota has been given this time(much like Cheeka got his cut last time getting Ashwin, Badri and Vijay into the team - one of the possible reasons he couldnt push many tn fringe players through this time.)
why chika...?
raj... as a chief selection he owes responsibility of his teams debacle... as much as he would be praised... he will be criticised for the selection panel (in)actions...
I wonder why there would be a need to pacify the central zone selector. Look at the current team.
North: Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Nehra
East: Dhoni
West: Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, Zaheer Khan
Central: Suresh Raina, Praveen Kumar
South: Dinesh Karthik
I think most people would agree on these 12 players deserving of a spot. That leaves three places and if anything it's the South and East zone selectors who would create trouble, and Srikkanth is already representing the South. The three remaining picks are from Central, West and South.
I wouldn't like to speculate on zonal politics behind the inclusion of Chawla. The selectors have been screwing Mishra and Ojha even when Chawla was nowhere in the picture.
