@Rishabh: This whole thing about the middle order winning matches is a myth...
If you talk about the middle order scoring the winning run, yes you are right. But the top order sets the tone.
But more often than not Laxman is let to do the scavenging work or to be politically correct, of sheparding the tail to respectability or to delay the inevitable loss...
And I would agree with @mudithraj. Let us name names first ?!!
EOD Test matches are won by "teams" (of 11, I mean contributions from all sides...).
I never said that we're losing BECAUSE of Laxman, I'm just saying that since we really can't do worse, we might as well throw someone like Rohit Sharma in there and see what he can do. He could have a debut like Ganguly/Dravid, you never know.
Again, statistics to the rescue. If only stats can reveal the actual picture. Harbhajan has not so bad stats taken over the last 10 years, but we all know how good he actually is, dont we?

The ideal place to blood new young batsman is the lower middle order. And if VVS isn't winning us matches against Oz, then what good is he?
Rishabh
Can you name a few who can be used
Lets think of number 6 first

if it wasn't for laxman's poor batting, india would have made 500 on day one. possibly even curing cancer.
so..does this mean Sehwag/Gambhir have to be dropped first before dropping Laxman ? Isn't Laxman a better batsman and expected to deliver more ?

what is special about 20 matches? Take the 7 away test matches in 2011 and see where VVS stands
