Pakistanis in the IPL?

by Q

Misbah, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul, and Kamran Akmal are the only Pakistanis still contracted to IPL franchises.

With the IPL moving out of India, the above four have the opportunity to play.

But are the franchises going to rope them in now?

Or will the Pakistan foreign ministry still allow them to play for Indian teams?

It should be alright in my view for the Pakistanis to appear, as long as they are not travelling to India.

Maybe the franchises should look to buy the services of Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, and Fawad Alam - they may catch 'em cheap!

Will Mr benazir Bhutto allow the Pakistan players to play in IPL now that the security issue is not an issue nemore.

(They were banned from playing in IPL over security issue in India (lol))...

Q, pak-ipl was on my mind too.

Even tho they're not touring India, can still expect either govt to politicise it.

Royals miss out most, what with no Tanvir and the new improved Younis. Other than them, Afridi may be needed only to carry tales.

Younis was released by the Royals NC..

Only the 4 Pakis I mentioned are left with contracts..

We'll see how it pans out over the next few days..

Q,

the same question was asked to modi in an interview..

and modi's reply was that the teams would remain the same that were announced by the franchises..

so if there were any paki players in those teams, then they will be playing, if not then not!

without being sentimental i think ankit may be right Q...

however i would like to see them play along with best in business...i don't think IPL ever banned them...it was pakistan foreign ministry(?) that instructed them to not come here for security reasons...

with ipl moving out i don't think playing pak cricketers should be the issue...

cheers!

Thats right SP, the IPL teams did not ban the Pak cricketers.. they just suspended their contracts cos the PAk foreign ministry did not allow them to participate.. either way I feel the ministry shud act first in allowing the players to play and then the IPL franchises shud take em back..

But with Pak v Aus happening from 22nd Apr - 7th May there wont be much time for them to play the IPL..
