Before trousers acquired the current look and cut, they actually used to have an independent pouch to house the necessary tools men must always carry. I'm not joking, as a fashion historian or garment historian. The Vet certainly houses medieval instincts behind those frail glasses, and you have captured well the gist of that in your cartoon.
