What is wrong with cricinfo?

by Bored Guest

At the outset, I would like to declare that I have not worked for cricinfo or any of the other cricket broadcasting companies. I am what the management consultants will refer to ESPN-cricinfo bosses as their end-user. Nothing more than that.

In a day and age when the traditional media are given a run for their money by the transparency of the internet and the strength of crowdsourcing, cricket coverage has been sadly left behind. Office with dedicated internet lines, access to twitter and FB on mobiles, it is way easier to know the live score today compared to smuggling an old transistor radio into class in the olden days. The success of internet has been widely accepted. When ESPN runs a #CLT20 to show on their live coverage, you can be sure, opinions and popularity of them on the internet is not taken lightly.

This brings me to my question. Do we have good cricket coverage in India? The television channels have become experts in showing 5 ball overs, footer tracker ads, intrusive ads and insipid commentary. So, that means from purely a business perspective, there is a chance for the internet to stand up and provide a good viewing experience of a cricket match. Has anyone succeeded in doing this ?

This bring me to cricinfo, easily the ‘home of cricket' on the web. Today, it is ESPN cricinfo. A bunch of us frequently rant on twitter about the double standards practised by CI. Even a cursory glance at some of the articles on CI will tell you that IPL is the root cause of the great bubonic plague and the great economic depression. I am not here to defend the IPL. But a logical extension of this attitude should lead to the same treatment for the ‘Nokia CL T20’, but that isn’t the case. Also, remember IPL is never the DLF IPL, but CL T20 is Nokia CL T20. If you are searching for answers, well, ESPN-star has coverage rights for one of them. I will let you decide which one. It is neither a DLF maximum nor a Toshiba power hit, it is a bloody six. That’s all. My issue is picking on one and leaving the other.

I remember Sambit Bal talking on one of Harsha's podcasts about Advertisement on TV and how it was irritating him, apparently pop-up Ads on CI home page are not considered cringe worthy. There was a post some months back By Sharda Urga that suggested Dhoni was an illiterate village boy, hence doesn’t understand DRS. The tone in all these dishonest editorial pieces is one of projecting the site as the holy saint and saviour of cricket. I have no problem with biased coverage but at least don't take the moral high ground that you are here to save cricket. Cricket will evolve and save itself. It doesn’t need your help. Thank you.

Other examples of this dishonesty in coverage and editorial pieces can be seen in how news item related to RCB/KSCA are dealt with. Mazhar Majeed and the whole fixing saga, Conflict of Interest of administrators and ex-players, selection issues. CI never tries to give the news as it is and present all sides of the stories and its interpretations in a balanced way. Do we need one such cricket website ?

For the lack of an alternative, it is still the biggest cricket site. There are numerous other cricket service website/blogs around, pitchinv, holdingwilley, thecricketcouch, boredcricket, twitter feeds of a whole lot of folks and many, many more. Not all of them are error free and perfect, but the readership that they enjoy and the ‘market demand ' says something about the biggest player. We are as a nation used to such products. Everyone has an agenda - the media, politicians, sports administrators, selectors, board –everyone. Maybe I am wrong to expect honesty from a cricket website. Maybe.

What should Irfan and Ishant do now?!

by Ankit Poddar

Indian cricket, one will do well to remember, faces some really weird selection policies. One day one guy  gets chosen because of unmentionable reasons, is retained in the team for even more unmentionable reasons while the best ones rot on the sidelines. A case in point is our very own Che.

Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma are such cases again. According to a lot of opinions, these guys do not have anything much to offer these days. So nothing like, they do not make it into any of the Indian teams. Not even the Women's team, who nobody really watches or cares about. But these cricket players are boys and boys, well, will remain boys. They can not still and have to be up to something or the other, all the time.

As a bored member, I decided to find out what could these two men really do, now that they have no cricket to play.

Irfan Pathan:

Touted as the next Wasim Akram (for his swing), and the next Kapil Dev (for his all round capabilities) until only some time ago, this boy had some awesome credentials to his name. But something has gone really wrong, with his swing as also with the selection policies. Now, this boy is largely being touted as the next Vinod Kambli (for never truly realizing his potential).

However, the boy is a fighter. The boy can take up random jobs these days. It would really be perfect, because thanks to Greg Chappell's vision, the boy would any which ways not know what his job in any team really is. Cricinfo's latest suggestion is that he impersonate Munaf Patel. Never mind the fact that, Munaf himself is rotting in oblivion. And I am really in support of that. At least, that would be some job, and as nobody cares about Munaf either, nobody will care to point out Irfan's mistakes.

Ishant Sharma:

The boy who made Ricky Ponting hop in that famous (or infamous) Perth Test has lost some of his pace and length and also the confidence of the selection committee at the same time. What the boy should do now is to open his own Exercise Classes. He could make his students 'Hop, Skip and Jump', just like he made Ponting do all that. Never mind the fact that he will not be able to do so at his own bowling but on some Mika music. Also, he could take up some Dance classes. After the IPL Awards fiasco, some dancing tips are in the offing.

On being sidelined by the selection committee so brutally, it is important for these players to keep themselves really busy. Idleness can play havoc with the mind. (Ask me!) Keep yourselves busy guys, take up these jobs!

Bored Game: World T20 League Update

by Aditya

Finally there rain has stopped and the business end of the tournament has started after Bangladesh were upset by an unseeded Australia! Mahela Jayawardene is in sublime form with a low score of 81 after 3 matches and that motivates Jacques Kallis to keep scoring so that he can get the orange cap (Yes, he is still stuck in THAT mode) ! The Indians were undone by quality short pitch fast bowling AGAIN ( getting bored of this already). Kemar Roach and Jerome Taylor will be licking their lips to repeat what Fidel Edwards did @ Lords in 2009. The Aussie pace trio has been in top form and looks like they will win THIS as well unless someone stops them in the Semi-Finals at St.Lucia.

Things are hotting up in the Bored League as well with the usual suspects Ex-IBL Chief Mahek and Yours Truly in the Top 3. Mahek is at the top of the tree, followed by Technosiastic, who has no transfers left! We have Bored Members Purna, Achettup and Homer in 18th, 24th and 30th respectively Just one inspired pick from any of the top 5 will make sure they get into the top spot! Do make the BIG match players as your trumps as you never know when they will rise up to the occasion like Afridi did in the Semis and Finals of the previous WorldT20.

On a personal note, due to my crappy net connection and Cricinfo's error not to show the changes I made, 2 of my transfers were gobbled up when I was trying to fill my team up with English players and am paying for it BIG time now!

Do follow the League Table on Cricinfo

Bored Game : World T20 League Update

by Aditya

Khufiabaaz has unearthed the reasons behind Bored Member/Cricket Mogul Mahek's Suspension. If you haven't read it yet do have a look here and also do read Mahek's response. The Bored Game is under new management and I as Chairman and Commissioner will ensure complete transparency and also there is no need for the franchises to worry, making sure their investments are performing well is our top most priority. The Brand of the Bored Game will take care of itself and make sure it will get bigger and better with time. The previous edition of the Bored Game had 41 franchises taking part at the end of 60 games which had a notification a week ahead of the start of the tournament. This time around, due to paucity of time we had the notification out just 7 hours before the start of the tournament and at present we have 34 franchises ( increasing by the day) competing for the Bored Prize. This just shows the increasing popularity of the Bored Game and it is here to Stay.

After Ten Games we have Technosiastic comfortably in first position but has no transfers left, followed closely by 5 teams separated by 110 points, this just shows how competitive our league is and a testament to how it will survive in the long run! Amongst the bunch of five we have rojonigondha leading the pack in at 2nd and TechieGuy 3rd. Ex-IBL Chief Mahek and Yours Truly in 4th and 5th positions respectively. We have Achettup, Purna (making her Debut) and Homer in 19th, 24td and 27th respectively. Given how the recent matches have been decided by D/L Method has added an element of surprise to the league and will continue to be more interesting as we move into the business-end of the tournament. A superlative performance from a trump player can propel franchise from the mid 20's into the top 5 ! Hence the present standings count for absolutely nothing !

On a personal note, the rain has hid me where it hurts the most! I have 4 English players in my franchise at present and two of them (Yardy and Broad) combined bowled less than 2 overs in their two matches which gave me a superlative '5' points !

An appeal to all the franchises to pick players from Bangladesh and Afghanistan as both the teams can still make it to the Super 8, so if you pick them now and if they qualify it will be a stroke of genius! Do follow the league table on Cricinfo.

Some of the franchises have used up their quota of 20 transfers ! Only time will tell whether this will prove beneficial to their franchise's progress in the Super 8 stage or do we not wait ? You decide! This has prompted me to remind all the franchises that the 20 transfers they have at their disposal are till the end of the Super 8 stage.

Bored Game : World T20 Fantasy League

by Aditya

Bored Members and Bored Friends,

Here is another reason to keep you glued to all the matches (including matches like West indies vs Ireland and Australia vs Bangladesh ) in the upcoming World T20 and cheer for players from other countries, introducing The Bored Game: World T20 Fantasy League. We had 41 teams contesting in the Bored IPL League on Cricinfo Fantasy. The World T20 starts TODAY and it's time we have another game between us.I love Fantasy Cricket and have been playing it for over 2 years now, having been a part of all the Bored Games, I have created a Bored League this time around. With 12 teams to choose from it will be a true test for a Fantasy player to pick the perfect XI. As Bored Member Achettup had done such a wonderful Job in explaining all there is to about Fantasy Cricket previously , it would be a waste of time trying to better it, so I will copy and edit wherever required :

Step 1) Create an account at Cricinfo's Fantasy Games page here

Step 2) Login to your account and find your way to the World of 20-20 page here

Step 3) Click on Create Team. On the new page Click on the -> next to the player's price to select them as part of your team.

Step 4) You have to pick 11 players within your budget of $1,000,000. You can pick three types of team combinations:

  • 4 Batsmen, 2 Allrounders, 1 Wicketkeeper(s) and 4 Bowlers
  • 5 Batsmen, 2 Allrounders, 1 Wicketkeeper(s) and 3 Bowlers
  • 4 Batsmen, 3 Allrounders, 1 Wicketkeeper(s) and 3 Bowlers
Choose your players, keeping in mind how points are scored (read more here), select a trump player (who will earn double points) and give your team a name in the Enter Team Name field. Remember that you can select a maximum of SIX players from a country. Save your team selection.

Step 5) Now all you have to do is join the Bored Cricket Crazy Indians league. To do this, leave a comment here, telling us which email address you used to create your fantasy league team.**

Step 6) We will then send an email (via cricinfo) to you containing a unique LPIN code. Now login to you fantasy league account on cricinfo and go to your team's page. Under "Leagues" on the left sidebar, click on Join League. Then enter the unique LPIN code that we sent to you via email.**

** Alternatively, immediately after creating your team, you can click on Join League and use this unique LPIN code
106105-2d5609771c6ccb6d
Please let me know if you were able to do this.

Step 7) We will then approve your team's entry into our Bored Game: Fantasy Cricket Challenge. That's it, you should now be part of the league and be able to see all the other people who are taking part and the teams they've selected. Do let us know if you have any problems creating a team or joining the the league.

We will update the scores of all teams in the league right here on BCC! from time to time.

Please try to let us know if you're taking part at the latest before 10:30 PM on Friday, April 30th. Don't worry about not picking the perfect team and waiting to register only after you've done that. As described below, there is plenty of time to make changes. What is more important is that we register your team name with the Bored Cricket Crazy Indians league as early we can.

A Few Useful Notes:

  1. Before the start of the first game, you can make unlimited changes to your team. The cut off time to make these unlimited changes is 10:30 PM Friday April 30.
  2. After that you can make up to 20 changes to your teams at any time before the semi finals.
  3. After the Round Robin stages, you can once again make unlimited changes to your team, so that you pick from only those teams that have made it to the semis.
  4. Once the first semifinal starts, you are allowed to make only 6 changes to the end of the tournament.
  5. You will usually get half an hour between the toss and the start of the match to find out who the final 11 players are. Use this time to substitute a player who might be dropped, because once the game starts, the team is "locked in" and if you haven't picked your substitute in time he will not score points!

Cricket watching (home and away)

by Samir Chopra

I've just put up a post (over at Cricinfo's Different Strokes) about my life as a cricket spectator while I was a student at Delhi University. Were other Bored members or readers also such chronic time-wasters during their college years? For the sake of Desh, I hope not. For the sake of solidarity, I hope so.

I'm going to be writing a bit more about the college cricket-watching years in the days to come. The cleaner stories will go up at Different Strokes. The more raunchy ones at Eye-on-Cricket and here. Hope that works for folks.

But the point of this post was to get Bored folks to write a bit about their personal experiences watching cricket (whether in the US or elsewhere, or back in Desh). Different parts of Desh provide different environments for watching the game. I'd be interested in hearing about them. I'm hoping others would be as well.

The Case for Kallis

by Mahek

Q) What do Chris Cairns, Andrew Flintoff, Jacob Oram and Shane Watson have in common?
A) They were all touted as genuine allrounders but never lived up to that billing, either due to lack of form or due to injuries.

Q) What is the most coveted commodity in a lineup irrespective of the format?
A) An allrounder.

It would make sense then that someone who consistently scored runs and took wickets without breaking down would be more important than someone who did just one of those. Instead, we have a situation where such a player has been branded as dour, uninspirational, and sometimes even selfish. After all, all cricket experts majored in psychology and have an insight into the minds of international cricketers.

It came as no surprise when the experts at Cricinfo voted Ricky Ponting the Player of the Decade. He fit the bill in pretty much every category that has forever been considered important, even if it makes absolutely no sense. Experts have forever tried to tie in individual successes with the team's fortunes. It's a good idea on the face of it - What good is a hundred if it's in a losing cause? - But it overlooks the fact that there are ten other players on the team, and that the batsman who scored that hundred didn't do it in the knowledge that it would be in a losing cause.

Let's take a look at what the Cricinfo editor had to say:

We asked the jury to choose the Player of Decade on the basis of quality of their performances, consistency and durability, contribution to their team's overall performance, and the impact they had on the game on the whole.

To me, the choice is pretty simple. A player who performs two roles consistently well trumps one who performs a single role with the same consistency. Every international side has been looking for their Jacques Kallis, none has been able to find theirs. On the other hand, every international side has a dominant batsman - Sehwag for India, Yousuf/Younis for Pakistan, Sangakkara/Jayawardene for Sri Lanka, Smith for South Africa, Pietersen for England, Lara for West Indies. Any of these batsmen could have replaced Ponting in the Australian lineup and it would have made barely any difference to the Australian side. Can the same be said about any batsman or bowler replacing Kallis?

We can talk about how Kallis is not as dominant as Ponting. We can say his side chokes on the big stage. And yet the sight of Kallis at the crease is a lot more reassuring than that of Ponting, not to mention the yawning gap between their bowling. When you pick Kallis you're essentially picking two players irrespective of the format. He has withstood the rigours of international cricket unlike the other allrounders of his era. He could have taken the easy way out by focusing on just one discipline or retiring from a format to preserve himself and make a quick buck, and yet he's routinely accused of playing for himself.

Umar Akmal is playing for an IPL spot

by Gaurav Sethi

71.5
Hauritz to Umar Akmal, FOUR, fourth boundary for Akmal of Hauritz this over, again tossed up wide outside the off stump and swings it high in the air and on the bounce to midwicket fence.

71.4
Hauritz to Umar Akmal, FOUR, flighted delivery outside the off stump and he is down on one knee and swings it high over midwicket and one bounce to the fence, wonderful strike.

71.2
Hauritz to Umar Akmal, FOUR, too short and too wide, quickly on the back foot and cuts hard behind point for another boundary.

71.1
Hauritz to Umar Akmal, FOUR, tossed up outside the off stump and Akmal drives it well through extra cover and to the fence for a boundary, gets off the mark in style.

That's 16 of the first 6 balls faced. I would've put it in my own words but no friggin cable. Life is hard. Your cable shouldn't be. As I write, or rather, as cricinfo types, it's 20 of 7. How far will Shane Warne go for this royal kid?

To cricinfo

by Gaurav Sethi

At 2359 points my overall rank is 2987. Take it that’s very good as at least few million geeks play Fantasy Cricket.

Today, before the start of the England-New Zealand game, my rank in the highly competitive Bored Cricket Crazy Indians league was 5, and I was left with 3 transfers.

No Englishman, and just Elliott at 80000 bucks. Of course I drop him for Morgan, make Morgan trump and get lost.

Prior to this, Johnson was my trump who took no part in yesterday’s game versus rain and India. Straight away a good few hundred points lost there.

Anyway, I return, after a jaunt round the place, discover much to my dismay, the Elliott-Morgan transfer did not take place.

Aside: Meanwhile Elliott takes his second wicket.

Yeah, so it was something to do with the combination not allowed, here’s what’s allowed:

1. 4 Batsmen, 2 Allrounders, 1 Wicketkeeper(s), 4 Bowlers
2. 5 Batsmen, 1 Allrounders, 1 Wicketkeeper(s), 4 Bowlers
3. 4 Batsmen, 3 Allrounders, 1 Wicketkeeper(s), 3 Bowlers

So where am I? Johnson as Trump, but he’s not even playing.

Elliott is, and he continues to take wickets as I write this. One of the reasons he is taking wickets is because I write this.

I ask you, cricinfo people, if you are real, and not some fantasy, to include Elliott as my trump. It may cause a minor upset in the Bored league, and I’m all for that.

Damn: Elliott takes another wicket. That's his third, and England are seven down.

Convinced, if I continue to write, Elliott will take the next three, and then take some in the nets. But what good is that for me?

PS: Elliott is the only player, either Kiwi or Pom who is part of the Naked Cricket team, it is but natural for him to be the trump player.

West Indies vs. West Indies: Comedy of errors

by bored cricket crazy indians

Round 1: Clive Lloyd and Michael Holding give the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) a verbal lashing. Talk of greed and personal scores being settled in the player-board impasse.

Round2: WIPA strike back: “many of its members had rejected lucrative contracts with the unsanctioned ICL and pointed out that Lloyd and other leading players of his generation had signed up with the Kerry Packer's rebel World Series Cricket (WSC), which had forced the West Indies board to field second-string sides for several series.

Cricinfo: Unlike the IPL in which Chris Gayle and others are involved and which is recognised by the ICC, WSC was not sanctioned by this body. Lloyd and his team blazed the path for better remuneration for players by participating in the WSC.

"WIPA does not think that Mr Lloyd and others did so for greed."

If nothing else, you gotta give the WIPA this much, their communication is spot on. Incredible then, how they never seem to get their point across.

Tishani Doshi Continues to Entertain...

by Q

In another post about Cricinfo's Page 2, I briefly mentioned how lacklustre Tishani Doshi is.

She has been exposed by some other bloggers as well, which I will come to later; first I want to talk about how she goes beyond lacklustre in her latest post.

First she rambles on about how she has been in love with Wasim Akram, Viv Richards, and Steve Waugh, and how she thinks that "Dhoni is delicious"; which all fine. If we can oodle over the Prietys, Shettys, and Kaifs then no reason why she can't over the cricketers.

The problem begins when Doshi starts describing modes of dismissals.

"I'm not talking about styles of delivery, because that's venturing into a jargon-filled land of spin and pace that's out of reach for me".

Out of reach? Describing different types of spin and fast bowling deliveries is out of reach? How can someone who doesn't know the types of bowling deliveries be a cricket blogger? That too for Cricinfo!

She talks about the catch and different ways that can be taken and then asks, "Why don't they have a Man of the Catch award?"

Man of the Catch? Err.. should it not be "Catch of the Match?" - I seriously do not think that she was trying to be funny.

The following one about the stumping takes the cake though.

"Then there's the stumping, which always sends a thrill of pure pleasure down your spine, even if the man walking back to the dugout is from your team. It's a clean, sharp dismissal, and when the stump flies into the air, the batsman can only glance back with an air of disbelief,"

Firstly, I don't understand why a stumping sends thrills down ones spine. Well ok maybe for her it does, but a stump flying in the air? In 2o years of watching cricket, I have never seen a stump fly into the air after a stumping. Forget about fly into the air, I have never even seen a stump fall on to the ground after a stumping. Keepers usually only break the bails.

I wonder what cricket Doshi has been watching.

Then she claims that she doesn't understand the LBW.

"There's the lbw, which is too subtle for me. I can never tell if someone is out, unless I watch it on Hawk-Eye. If I were to watch a cricket match live without the aid of a commentator and replays, there's no way I'd be able to catch the lbw."

Well maybe she's not the only one who can't tell, but she's bloody blogging on Cricinfo!

Ok ok even some umpires can't tell about the LBW, but this lady, Tishani Doshi, continues to entertain - in a very unfunny way.

The other Exposes of Ms Doshi:

I scored all of 829 out of 1200 in my school finals. It was, is and will be the abyss any one from my glorious Tambram family would ever manage to beat. Unless my son Anirudhha decides to make me proud.

But still I could come out unscathed, the reason being that 96% I scored in Chemistry. I effectively managed to deflect the limelight, having been the weaklink. The most inefficient guy in the family (team), in terms of scoring.

I could speak because I could afford to, about my Chemistry scores

Cut to IPL: Where you have...

Let's first read this story...

Did he bowl a yorker ?

Yes, he tried to bowl one too many in the right earnest. But in my opinion he never did (or could) bowl even one.

Did he bowl a slower one ?

Yes, he did... for every one delivery of his would follow my moped of those days (a TVS Champ, TN 72 3280 during my college days) and travel on any congested Indian street without attracting the awe of a policeman. High 60s maximum.

But still, when you manage to pick-up wickets you can talk anything you want...

When cricinfo says you were to be the all rounder BCCI was searching for and you just missed the bus, the crap you talk is worth a few carats...

Pink Floyd are entertaining me in the background as I write this post.

While doing my customary rounds of http://www.cricinfo.com/ I found something interesting.

"I'm 43 but wouldn't mind having a crack at it. I think I'll go okay but I am not sure if any side is desperate to take me"

Appropriately Floyd were playing the famous "Money" song as I was reading this.

But yes there is a side that is desperate, desperate that it wouldn't even mind taking or rather waking up a WG Grace or Sir Donald Bradman off their grave to manage a win, one WIN. I hear grapevine telling me that this guy might be the replacement for the "Fountain of ideas".

Now that I have given enough away, the man who said those famous words is Stephen Rodger Waugh. And yes, you got it right...

The team we are talking about are the Kolkata Knight Riders.

So would Stephen Play or Make Play ??

Whatever it is, he would make pots of money.

Bored devils bored advocate…

by RajaB

The Johan Botha saga made us page Bishen Bedi, without any response. And then came a fantastic idea to contain this contagion, yes we want the ICC to equip the umpires with protractors to effectively measure the delivery angle of every bowler. No, not (Mike) Proctor, the one we are referring is the drafting instrument that used to form part of our secondary school geometry boxes.

To start with we studied a couple of pictures, just that moment as the bowling hand is about to release the ball. As I think this might be a little controversial, I am not going to pass any judgement. I would leave it open to the bored members and the bored readers to form their own opinion and probably have a discussion.

What we would do here is to just give you a couple of pointers about what we see in the pictures. Excuse me if you thought we are stirring up the hornets nest again. That is not the intention. Personally speaking I am a great fan of one of the two guys we are talking about here while I haven’t watched much of the other.

Exhibit 1: Muralidaran at practice with Chennai Superkings.

1. He is about to deliver what seems like a possible doosra
2. Look at how upright and (almost) straight his body is
3. Look at the left hand and the left leg, almost firmly pivoted at 80-85 degrees
4. Look at the bowling arm, it seems like it is cocked at 40 degrees

Now the question, do you think if this is the position you are anchored at you would manage to deliver within the mandated 15 degrees?

Now can you take a ball in your hand and try replicating this position and then releasing the ball? Do you feel like your bowling arm might twist badly if you wanted to straighten it (the normal delivery style)?

So what do you think about this action?

Exhibit 2: Botha in action during the recent ODI series against Australia

1. He seems like he is going to deliver a conventional
off-spinner or may be a faster one (more likely it is actually a faster one, if you look at how well he is using the crease and how close he is to the stumps).
2. Look at his body, it is at 70-75 degrees, aligned with his pivotal left leg
3. Now look at where his left hand is anchored, it is completely aligned with his bowling arm (elbow). At 30-35 degrees.

The question, do you think he would deliver the faster one within the stipulated 15 degree bend of the arm?

Why don’t you try this now with a ball in your hand?

This action is a little easily correctable. But the problem is that if you try to correct yourself after cocking up into this position, most probably the ball you deliver is going to bisect (even a squarish) third man and the backward point fielder for a perfect 5.

I am not trying to pass any judgment here as I had mentioned earlier. What is right for some could be wrong from someone else. What is a perfect 6/6 for someone might be short sight for another.

What say you?

Where are you dear sir, we need someone as able to respond?

by RajaB

Well, we paged you yesterday, but you didn’t respond. Your stoic silence has been taken for granted by the South African's, they think they could get away with murder.

Don’t believe me?

See what they have done. They have dropped Johan Botha from their squad for the final ODI.

Why?

They want to shield him, from being called again. So he will not be called now, unless you, our dear sir broke his silence and called him, names.

Look at what the man himself says (and I quote the good guys from cricinfo)

"We know what we want to do and we know what we need to do," Botha told Cricinfo. "It's pretty simple."

What does this mean?

This means many things to us.... conspiracy sir.

1. May be they are planning to send his body double (Johan Onna) for the test in Australia and get Botha them cleared
2. Or, may be they are tutoring him now. On how not to bowl how he bowls now, during this break from the final ODI

Your silence is painful dear sir. Yes sir, more painful than how batsmen felt when Steve Bucknor declared them out (he says he is retired but still sir, the batsmen feel the pain).

And my dear sir no worries, I assure you even this time if you open you will not close that easily. No court and no case sir. Yes sir, I mean your sweet mouth simply can’t, those harmonic words that come out.

(Y)our scope is expanding, you will first finish Johan Botha and cricket South Africa off and then come to India. Here we will say “Hello” to Gill paji, our sports minister and a big “Thank you” to him. We need to extract an answer from Harbajan and Dhoni, irresponsible guys they are sir. First tell them how important the Padma awards are, and then demand an answer as to why they missed the ceremony. We need to ask them if that was because of an impending income or expenditure. Yes sir, an ad shoot or a girl friend. You know what we try to mean here…

And sir we have this spineless ICC’s meeting happening in Dubai to decide if cricket could be played in Pakistan or by ICL.

Sorry sir, I know this might be confusing, but two things sir. One my English is not as perfect as yours and two this particular item (line) in the ICC agenda was drafted by Sharad Pawar.

And sir I repeat, please save us & cricket sir. We believe, there have only been two indelible icons in world history who saved the world – general or cricket. One, Hercules and the important two is you sir.

So please respond sir.
